FNAF Plus is about tension in a small room. Axis Football League is tension of a different kind: third and long, the clock running and a one-minute warning on the screen. It is an American football game released in 2010 by Axis Games, the studio that later made the Axis Football series, and it runs here as the original Flash game through the Ruffle emulator.

What is on the menu

The title screen offers Quick Game, New Season, Load Season, Achievements and Rules. Quick Game drops you into a single matchup. Season mode is the long game: a full schedule, standings and playoffs. On a first visit New Season is shown with a padlock, so start with Quick Game to learn the controls.

The rules the game enforces

Axis Football League lists its rules on its own Rules screen:

• Each game has two halves of five minutes.
• The clock stops on incomplete passes, side changes and plays that go out of bounds.
• Each half has a one-minute warning.
• No more than ten seconds may pass between plays.
• Overtime is sudden death, so the first team to score wins.

Seasons are 12 games long. The top eight teams after week 12 reach the playoffs, which are three rounds of single elimination.

Clock management matters

Five-minute halves go quickly, and the ten-second limit between plays means you cannot stall forever. When you are ahead late in a half, keep the ball in bounds and run it. When you are behind, passes toward the sideline stop the clock whether they are caught out of bounds or fall incomplete. The one-minute warning is your cue to change approach.
